The National Testing Agency (NTA) — an autonomous agency — is in charge of drawing up the question papers and carrying out the exam. The examination will be conducted in two slots- Slot 1 for 195 minutes and Slot 2 for 225 minutes. The three-and-half-hour computer-based entrance test will have multiple-choice questions based on the content of class 12 NCERT textbooks.

Students will receive negative marks for incorrect answers in the examination, as per report. The entrance exam will be divided into three sections and administered as a single entrance exam for university admissions to reduce the burden on those seeking higher education.

The 3-part paper:

The language test will be the first section. CUET will be offered in 13 languages, namely Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Urdu, Assamese, Bengali, Punjabi, Odia and English. Students will have the option to choose one. Questions will be based on reading comprehension, verbal ability and grammar, among others.

Four domain-specific subjects will be covered in the second section. Students will need to choose and answer one of the options, they are: accounting, bookkeeping, history, economics or geography.

The third section of the paper will be divided into two subsections. The first sub-part will be a general test for vocational and open eligibility programs, in which students will be tested on general knowledge, awareness of current affairs, general mental ability, and logical and analytical reasoning, and the second sub-part will have an additional language test, in which students will be tested on their knowledge of one of 13 languages, including French, Spanish, German, Konkani, Bodo, Nepali, Persian, Italian, Tibetan, and Japanese. This section, however, is optional.

Students will also be able to switch streams if needed, which means science students can choose to join arts or commerce streams, commerce students may switch to arts, and arts students will be able to switch to commerce. However, commerce and arts students may not switch to science. The wide range of subjects allows the switching of streams easier.

CUET 2022 Registration process for UG courses starts on April 6

CUET 2022 application process: Steps to apply

Visit the official website cuet.samarth.edu.in

On the homepage, click on the application process link

Enter your details and press the submit button

Download the CUET application form, take a printout

Government on CUET

Admission to undergraduate courses in these universities will now be solely based on the CUET score, indicating that performance in the Class 12 Board examination will no longer be a factor in admissions across Central universities. In other words, the age-old practice of admissions to DU colleges (mostly based on cutoffs), which had touched 100% for some subjects in top colleges last year, is now history.

The government has, in previous occasions, indicated that it does not endorse the use of Board marks for admission because of the “diversity” in evaluation methods. “Some Boards are more generous than others in marking,” an official who spoke on the condition of anonymity said, adding that this unequal method “gives their students an unfair advantage over others”.

The Delhi University, meanwhile, declared that aspirants are required to have cleared Class 12 exams with a minimum score of 40% from a recognised board to qualify for the entrance test to the university, ThePrint reported. Overall, the government hopes that by implementing CUET, it will be able to address the issue of high cutoffs and make admission a level playing field for all students.

The government did not endorse the use of Board marks for admission because of the “diversity” in evaluation methods.

Following the CUET, students will be admitted to each university based on a merit list prepared by NTA. Class 12 board examination results will have no influence on the admission but the qualifying criteria of various universities will.

So far, CUET has been hailed as the “right” move because it is definite and aimed at a larger vision of uniform education.

Why is a single entrance exam the “right” way to go?

CUET will provide a common platform to get admission in all universities and colleges in the country, giving candidates from all educational boards, as well as those from rural and remote areas, equal opportunities.

CUET is a huge movement, especially in schools away from the score and result-based learning, toward a greater focus on understanding concepts.

With CUET, you won’t have to waste time filling out various forms for different universities, which means it’ll save your time and money.

With CUET, students will be well-prepared for just a single entrance test with a single syllabus to remember, rather than attempting to pass tests for many central universities like Aligarh Muslim University, University of Allahabad, Jamia Millia Islamia or Assam University.

It has long been debated that the state boards are stricter than the centralised boards like CBSE or ICSE in terms of evaluation. CUET will fill up a huge gap in terms of marks obtained by students depending on the boards they have attended. Now, it will be easier for students to decide their fate rather than boards deciding whether or not they can attend a particular university.

Centralised tests (JEE and NEET) are already held for undergraduate engineering and medical courses and CUET will attempt to be a fair test as well.

And finally, CUET will end this big issue — whether to take admission in a particular university or to wait for more results to be declared — for students and they will be able to plan based on their rankings rather than dates. This CUET will provide students with a fair assessment of where they can apply for admission based on a single merit.

CUET will give candidates from all educational boards, as well as those from rural and remote areas, equal opportunities.

Meanwhile, the board results are still important as a qualifying examination. Defending the CUET, Delhi University Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh said, “the cut-off system did not offer equal opportunities to all students but the CUET will judge them on equal parameters and will not be disadvantageous for those who studied under from boards that are not lenient in awarding marks.

CUET PG ADMIT CARD CUET PG Admit Card 2022 – National Testing Agency has released the CUET PG 2022 admit card for exams on August 29.
