Varthana, leveraging its status as an NBFC, serves as a key Lending Service Provider (LSP), strategically partnering with banks and other NBFCs to facilitate and service their student loan portfolios.

How the Loan Model Works?

The loan process is a collaborative effort between Varthana and its financial partners.
Following are the loan services managed by Varthana and Bank/NBFCs:

  • Application Sourcing (Varthana): Varthana initiates the process by identifying and sourcing qualified student loan applications.
  • Verification & Underwriting (Bank/NBFC): The partner Bank/NBFC takes over to conduct crucial steps, including KYC verification and underwriting (credit assessment).
  • Disbursement (Varthana & Bank/NBFC): Upon approval, Varthana assists the customer to finalize the necessary documentation, allowing the Bank/NBFC to disburse the funds.
  • Repayment & Collection (Varthana): Post-disbursement, Varthana manages the customer relationship, handling the collection of EMIs, particularly focusing on managing and recovering payments from delinquent accounts.

Digital Lending Products Under LSP Model

Normal Fixed Loan

  • Eligible Loan is provided for the course fee.
  • Customer repays with applicable interest as specified in the KFS and loan agreement.

No-Cost EMI

  • The course fee is financed under a No-Cost EMI scheme.
  • Customer repays the course fee in equal installments with no additional cost.
  • APR is clearly mentioned in the KFS.

Low-Cost EMI

  • The loan is structured under a Low-Cost EMI scheme.
  • A portion of the course fee is borne by the institute, reducing the borrower’s cost.

Personal Loan – Fixed

  • A personal loan facility is provided ranging from Rs 50,000 to 200,000 based on eligibility assessed by the Regulated Entity.
  • Repayment is made with applicable interest as per the KFS and loan agreement.
  • Loan is disbursed into the bank account of the borrower by the respective RE (Regulated Entity)

Subvention Loan

  • The course fee is financed under a 0% Interest scheme. The subvention fee would be borne by the institutes.
  • Customer repays the course fee in equal installments with no additional cost.
  • APR is clearly mentioned in the KFS.
