Since VITEEE’s syllabus is similar to that of 11th and 12th grades, it is less complex than JEE.

BITSAT

Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani, conducts the Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test (BITSAT) 2023 for undergraduate engineering programmes (BE) in its three campuses in Pilani, Goa, and Hyderabad. Students passing the admissions test will be given admission into the BE, BPharm, and MSc programmes. Every year, over 3 lakh students enrol for the online entrance exam.

The exam is held twice a year, and there are 61 exam centers. BITSAT is nearly as difficult as JEE Mains, and to pass it, you must have both accuracy and speed. JEE Advanced is more challenging than BITSAT as it requires a deeper understanding of the concepts.

Apart from national-level admission examinations, students can also get admission to engineering courses through state-level admission tests.

State-level engineering exams offer similar opportunities as national-level exams, but they have some limitations:

  • Only colleges in the state where the exam is conducted are available for selection.
  • Candidates who want to enrol in colleges in other states need to take different exams since the results of state-level assessments are not recognised outside the state.

WBJEE – The state of West Bengal administers the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) as a requirement for admission to both government-run and for-profit engineering institutes. WBJEE is an optical mark recognition (OMR)-based test that is administered offline. There are a total of two papers: paper 1 covers mathematics, while paper 2 covers physics and chemistry. There are 200 points granted overall for the three papers (Chemistry, Physics – 50M, Mathematics – 100M).

KCET – The state of Karnataka administers the Karnataka Common Entrance Exam (KCET) to applicants seeking admission to professional programs like B.E. and B.Tech at engineering institutes. Each of the three papers—Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics—is worth 60 points. There is a 1-hour, 20-minute time restriction, and there is no negative marking in KCET. Every correct response earns one mark.

MHT-CET – The Maharashtra Health and Technical Common Entrance Exam (MHT-CET), a common admission exam for numerous engineering and pharmacy institutions, is administered by the Maharashtra government. Candidates for engineering degrees must take the Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics exams. Together with Physics and Chemistry, prospective pharmacy students have the choice of taking either Mathematics or Biology. The exam lasts for one hour and 30 minutes. Each paper carries a total of 50 points, with 2 marks given for each correct response in the Mathematics paper and 1 mark for each correct response in the other papers.

GUJCET, UPSEE, COMEDK, and EAMCET are some of the other state-level exams conducted in Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana, respectively, to get into engineering courses.

Eligibility for entrance to an engineering institution after completing high school:

The requirements to study engineering are the same across India, although various institutions accept different admission tests. To be eligible for an engineering program, a student must meet the following criteria:

  • Pass the 12th-grade test
  • Have a minimum score of 50% in the 12th examination, which is the lowest percentage that institutions will accept.
  • Study math, physics, and chemistry in the 11th and 12th grades
  • Study biology in their 11th and 12th grades if they intend to major in biomedical engineering.

After high school, there is intense competition for admission to engineering colleges, and many students put forth a lot of effort in their studies to perform well on the entrance examinations. Some students even receive specialized tutoring during their 12th-grade year to gain admission to the IITs.
