Venkatesh, Milton Primary and High School, Hubli, Karnataka
The strength of trust and commitment to teachers is one of the most remarkable aspects of Milton Primary and High School. Founded in 1995 in Makthalpet, Raichur, Karnataka, many teachers have dedicated decades to this institution. H. Venkatesh, the school’s founder, shares, “It’s incredible to see so many teachers spend over 20 years at Milton. Some have even surpassed the 25-year mark, which is truly special.” This impressive teacher retention reflects the strong connections among management, teachers, students, and parents, creating a supportive community that nurtures loyalty and growth.
Venkatesh emphasizes, “These deep relationships are at the heart of our school. They help create a sense of belonging that empowers everyone.” The trust built over the years has been key to the school’s success and the overall improvement of the community.
What Led to the School’s Journey?
Venkatesh is a dedicated educator with a strong background, holding degrees in BCom, MA, BEd, and LLB. As the founder of Milton Primary and High School, his journey began in Andhra Pradesh, where he started as a government school teacher. His love for education sparked in childhood, and he shares, “From a young age, I felt a pull towards teaching. I wanted to make a positive impact on students’ lives.”
With nearly 30 years in education, Venkatesh is committed to providing quality learning for future generations. He believes, “Education is not just a career for me; it’s a passion. Every child has the potential to succeed.” This dedication shines through in his efforts to create a supportive environment for students.
Inspiration Behind the Name ‘Milton’
The name Milton holds deep meaning for Venkatesh. “During my school years in Andhra Pradesh, there was a famous school named Milton that I truly admired,” he says. This admiration led him to do some research. “I discovered that Milton was also the name of John Milton, a great English poet who, despite being blind, wrote Paradise Lost. His resilience inspired me,” he explains.
Venkatesh chose the name Milton for his school, believing it symbolized both strength and excellence, qualities he wanted his school to reflect.
Overcoming Obstacles: From a Temple to a Thriving School
Venkatesh started Milton School in Raichur with the simple goal of shaping young minds. “We began with four classes, from 1st to 4th, teaching in Kannada medium,” he shares. As the school grew, “We switched fully to English medium as fewer students chose Kannada,” he explains.
Milton School faced many challenges, especially lacking a proper building. “We operated from a temple, moved to rented premises, and finally built our own school in 2013. Running a school means overcoming challenges,” says Venkatesh, remembering how the school grew from 80 students to over 800.
Today, Milton School thrives with a dedicated team of 40 staff members, all focused on shaping bright futures.
Quality Education: The Key to Societal Growth
For Venkatesh, education isn’t just about books; it’s about building responsible citizens. “We really focus on early education, from preschool to 5th grade, because that’s when character, habits, and values are formed,” he says.
His own experiences with great teachers drive him to ensure Milton School offers that same strong foundation. “Teachers are the backbone of our school. They need support at every stage, as their dedication is what brought our school recognition,” he adds, stressing how much their efforts have shaped Milton’s success.
Celebrating Alumni Success
One of Venkatesh’s favorite moments is meeting successful alumni who have excelled in their careers. With a warm smile, he shares, “From doctors to gold medalists at top universities, Milton School’s alumni are making a difference in the world. Every time I run into them and hear about their achievements, it reminds me why we put in so much effort.”
These encounters uplift him and show the true impact of education. “Seeing our alumni thrive proves that our hard work really matters,” he adds, reflecting on how their success inspires everyone at the school.
Reviving Leadership Role
Venkatesh’s journey has not always been smooth; it has been filled with challenges and important lessons at every turn. He explains, “Our school began as a partnership with an associate, but we faced differences that led to our split in 2013. Once I took full control over decisions and administration, I was able to lead the school to new heights.”
He emphasizes, “These challenges taught me that clear communication and strong leadership are essential for the growth of any institution.” These lessons continue to guide the school’s development today.
Varthana’s Partnership
In times of need, Venkatesh found a reliable partner in Varthana, a financial service provider. He expresses, “With Varthana’s support, we could build a new school building, and recently, we secured a loan for further expansion. This partnership means a lot to us, especially because the loan process was so easy and quick.” He adds, “Varthana has been a trusted ally during our toughest moments.” This strong collaboration has truly helped Milton School grow and thrive.
Expanding the School’s Reach
Seeing the growing demand for CBSE education, Venkatesh plans to open Maxwell International School in a different area of Raichur. He shares, “I am dedicated to making Maxwell International School the seventh CBSE school in our region to meet the needs of our community.” His commitment is evident in the 3 to 4 crores invested in building a modern campus that will offer quality education through both State and CBSE boards. Venkatesh adds, “This investment positions our schools as leaders in delivering exceptional education for all students.”
His journey from a government school teacher to the founder of one of Raichur’s top schools shows his determination. He concludes, “With two schools under my leadership, I am committed to making a positive difference in our community.” His dedication to nurturing young minds ensures that Milton and Maxwell schools will help shape the leaders of tomorrow.
