Mundra Yadav, Sambhu Dayal Public School, Noida, UP

Mundra Yadav, a first-generation graduate from a farming family, understood the struggles of his village. The area had only one school, offering classes up to the 5th grade, forcing children to travel over five kilometers for further education.

“The community approached us for help,” recalls Mundar. “We had land but no funds to build a school. We started small, with two temporary classrooms and recognition up to the 8th grade. Seeing the demand, I committed to providing quality education with proper infrastructure.”

Foundation of Sambhu Dayal Public School

Sambhu Dayal Public School, led by Mundar, is a good example of how commitment, community support, and passion for education can transform rural areas. From its humble beginnings, the school now offers quality education to over 1,200 students in this region who never had such access. Mundar’s story reflects the potential of community-driven efforts toward overcoming challenges and achieving success.

Mundar shares, “The major turning point came when our family’s farmland was acquired, and the compensation became the first big investment in the school.” He added, “These funds helped build facilities that met CBSE standards, eventually enabling the school to offer classes up to the 12th grade.”

Looking at the present scenario, this school has grown not just in terms of enrollment but also on campus. Starting with 300 students, the school has now grown to serve over 1,200, earning the trust and support of the community. To improve the educational experience, the school implemented modern computer and science labs that provide hands-on learning opportunities. Additionally, they offer vocational training programs for 11th and 12th-grade students that focus on building skills relevant to their careers.

Overcoming Early Challenges

Like any new initiative, the school faced many difficulties in its early days. One major challenge was the lack of qualified teachers in the local area. “There were few skilled teachers, so I had to teach multiple classes, oversee construction, and manage administrative tasks,” says Mundar.

The school also struggled with poor infrastructure, such as bad roads leading to the campus. Despite this, Mr. Mundar’s determination helped improve facilities and update the curriculum over time.

Fee payment delays were another challenge, as many parents could not afford to pay on time. “We often gave fee concessions because I believe every child deserves an education, no matter their financial situation,” shares Mundar.

The school also faced competition as new schools opened in the area. However, its strong foundation and commitment to affordable education kept it a community favorite.

A Mission for Affordable and Inclusive Education

Sambhu Dayal Public School is built on the belief that education is a right for everyone, regardless of financial or social barriers. “We assess each family’s income and offer fee concessions where needed,” says Mundar.

This mission is deeply personal for him. He shared one of his experiences, where he was denied admission to a good school because his parents were not much educated. Hence now he is determined to ensure that no child faces the same obstacle.

This school continues to provide affordable education while maintaining quality, ensuring students from underprivileged backgrounds receive the best opportunities. “Parents placed their trust in us early on,” he says. “It wasn’t just about building classrooms but creating an environment where students could truly thrive.”

The Role of Varthana

A major milestone in the school’s journey was its partnership with Varthana, a financial institution providing school loans. This partnership was instrumental in expanding the school’s infrastructure.

“Someone from Varthana approached us, and the process was smooth,” recalls Mundar. “We submitted the required documents and were quickly approved for a loan to build new facilities.”

With construction underway, the school aims to accommodate 2,000 students in the near future. “Once the work is complete, we are confident more students will join us,” he says.

Looking Ahead

From small beginnings to becoming a full-fledged 12th-grade institution, Sambhu Dayal Public School’s path reflects an idea: hard work and dedication will be rewarded. Today, the school provides holistic education with affordability and inclusivity for more than 1,200 students.

Mundar looks towards the future to grow even more. Continuing construction plans include increasing facilities and bettering the infrastructure to accommodate more students.

“We have achieved a lot, but there is still much to do. Our goal is to ensure that every child in the community has access to quality education,” he says. “With support from organizations like Varthana and the trust of the community, we are confident of reaching new milestones.”

Sambhu Dayal Public School is a beacon of hope, proving that education can transform not just lives but whole communities.
