Behind the veil

“Speaking to parents about the value of sending their children to school was a necessary step. They needed to see the future that I see, where every child is successful,” recalls Yash Sharma as he reflects on the challenges he faced in his mission to provide affordable education in the rural areas of Gurugram.

Yash has only one mission: breaking the cycle of poverty by helping students grow into well-rounded individuals, not just academically but in all aspects of life. “Our school will always be a sanctuary of learning and support,” he sounds hopeful.

Growing up in a farming family, Yash had witnessed the harsh realities of poverty. He learned how education alone can end this struggle and transform lives. This conviction inspired him to establish a school that prioritizes holistic success beyond academics.

However, it was not easy convincing parents so an undeterred Yash took it upon himself to visit families door-to-door, passionately sharing the life-changing value of education and the promising futures it can unlock. He painted a picture of a brighter future: to help every child learn, develop unique talents, and support in building a better tomorrow.

Operating schools during the hard time

The COVID-19 pandemic brought many challenges for school leaders like Yash with limited resources like smartphones and internet access. “We refused to leave anyone behind.”

Determined in his goal of providing affordable education, he provided extra classes to children without charges. After the schools reopened, he organized free extra classes to help students catch up with their classes. During the 21-month lockdown, the school even waived fees and promised free education through 12th grade for children who lost their parents to the virus.

However, operating a school requires good financial strength, which might be a challenge for many private schools. Lack of infrastructure or good teachers can hamper the aim of many school leaders. As the school was growing, Yash planned to purchase extra land and expand the school building to accommodate all the students.

Varthana’s support

With no prior experience in taking loans, Yash was initially skeptical about borrowing money but decided to contact Varthana. He received guidance not only on securing the loan but also on purchasing the property hassle-free. “Varthana’s support meant more than just financing; it meant guidance,” Yash claims.

Varthana assisted him throughout the entire property-buying process, making it smooth and stress-free. Having received such comprehensive support, Yash doesn’t consider relying on any other source. This was his first school loan, and he is deeply impressed with the above-and-beyond services provided by Varthana.

Present scenario

One of Yash’s core beliefs is that education should be accessible to everyone, not just the wealthy. “A watchman, an essential member of the community, earns a modest salary,” he explains. “That’s why I’ve kept school fees affordable. Education shouldn’t be a privilege reserved for the wealthy.” Thanks to this approach, many students who might have been left behind have thrived. Today, Yash’s hard work is paying off. Enrollment started slowly, but word soon spread about the school’s commitment to learning and personal growth. Now, the school serves over 1,000 students, all benefiting from Yash’s supportive environment. He is especially proud of one student who, despite early struggles, became a constable in the Delhi Police.

Talking about the future, we found that Yash’s vision is bold. “My dream is far from complete,” he says. He aims to build a school recognized for excellence across India and believes Varthana will be a key partner in achieving this. “I’m not just a dreamer,” Yash adds. “I’m a doer, turning my visions into reality.”

Conclusion

“I am thankful to Varthana and I hope that it helps me expand my school across India,” He concludes by sharing his plans for the future. The rapid growth of his school motivated him to share his vision across India. One common vision Yash and Varthana have is that both aim to provide affordable education across India. Varthana’s easy loan repayment options and active customer support team provide feasible and quick financial solutions to support any such visionary school leader in their mission.
