Nitesh Lodhi, Superior Convent School Pathari, Mandi, Madhya Pradesh

Inspired by his rural upbringing, Nitesh Lodhi dedicated himself to shaping young minds. His journey in education reflects his deep commitment to his students and community, inspiring those around him with his determination and leadership. Growing up in a small village with limited resources and guidance, he completed his 10th and 12th grades through sheer determination and support from a few dedicated teachers.

He performed exceptionally well in academics, scoring a commerce degree from Vidisha and a B.Ed. from Harisingh Vishwa Vidyasagar University. He also pursued a postgraduate diploma in computer applications (PGDCA).

College became the turning point in Nitesh’s life, as he started dreaming of opening a school to provide quality education in his locality. While preparing for competitive exams, he was also teaching part-time. This experience gave him a very good insight into the education system and strengthened his courage to start his school, driven by a vision of providing quality education and empowerment to others in his community.

Starting of The School

He drew his inspiration from his teaching experiences. He can still remember the respect and admiration that students and colleagues showed him during the part-time job, which further fueled his passion for education. This led to the establishment of an institution named Superior Convent School. His guiding principle is, “Where there is a will, there’s a way,” as it helped him in the process of starting up the school by overcoming all the challenges that came his way.

With unwavering determination, Nitesh started the school with 123 students in its first year. His dedication and hard work led to steady growth, and enrollment reached 330 students. However, this rapid expansion brought new challenges, including limited space that forced him to turn away prospective students. Competing with ten other schools in the area added to the pressure, but Nitesh’s resilience and commitment to his vision kept him moving forward.

The Journey of Superior Convent School

From the beginning, Nitesh Lodhi prioritized making education both accessible and affordable for rural families. He carefully structured the school’s fees to align with their financial limitations. Understanding the value of holistic development, he introduced co-curricular activities and ensured a safe, inclusive environment for all students. Guided by his philosophy of “working for the goodness of others,” he cultivated a nurturing atmosphere that benefits both students and staff.

“I sought innovative solutions to overcome challenges and improve the school’s facilities,” he shared. Recognizing the growing role of technology in education, Nitesh established a computer center, significantly enhancing the school’s resources. However, funding these improvements required financial assistance, pushing him to explore new avenues to sustain and grow his vision.

His search for financial support led him to Varthana, an organization committed to empowering educational institutions. He shares that his journey with Varthana brought many transformations in the school. “Their loan process was smooth, which helped me to quickly secure funds: ₹1 lakh initially, followed by another ₹1 lakh, and later ₹3 lakh for further development,” he added. With these loans, he invested in school infrastructure and expanded its offerings, leading to increased enrollment and greater parent satisfaction. Establishing a computer center marked a turning point, enhancing student learning and positioning the school as a leader among local educational institutions.

Current Operations of the School

The name “Superior Convent School” holds deep personal significance for Nitesh. It is a tribute to his English teacher, Supriya Sharma, who greatly influenced his life. “While I couldn’t name the school directly after her, I creatively modified it to “Superior” as a mark of respect,” he shared. This thoughtful gesture reflects his profound appreciation for the educators who shaped him and his deep regard for the teaching profession.

Today, Superior Convent School stands as a testament to Nitesh’s dedication and hard work. The school’s financial situation has improved significantly, and he has even ventured into a side business to supplement his income. Recognizing the importance of quality educators, he prioritizes teacher retention by offering satisfactory salaries, and bonuses, and fostering a work environment that promotes job satisfaction. His philosophy is simple: “Happy teachers create happy students.” This belief is evident in the school’s positive atmosphere and thriving learning environment.

Believing that the best should be given to the students of rural areas, Nitesh has dedicated his life to that. With his aspirations in place, he stands as a beacon of hope and inspiration proving that with determination and the right support, anything is possible.
