Satya Prakash Chaudhary, Swami Vivekanand Public School, Gurugram

Moved by the sight of children in his neighborhood who couldn’t afford to attend school or dream of a better future, Satya Prakash Chaudhary started Swami Vivekanand Public School where every child, regardless of their background, could feel safe and valued.

“My aim was simple: to help the children of my community by offering quality education at an affordable cost,” Satya shares. “It wasn’t a business venture but a commitment to see every child get a chance to succeed.” He further adds, “Education is the foundation of a strong future, and my goal has always been to give back by creating opportunities for these young minds.”

A Humble Start

Recalling the start, Satya shares, “We began our school’s journey in April 2003 with just 12 students who were eager to learn.” He adds, “By the time summer break arrived, we had grown to 49 students, each one bringing hope and enthusiasm into our classrooms.”

The growing numbers reflected the faith families had in the school, wanting a place for their children to learn, even when money was tight. “It was heartening to see the community’s response,” Satya says. “These weren’t just enrollments; they were signs of belief, hope, and the desire for a brighter future for their children.”

Life Lessons: What Our Teachers Taught Us

Learning Despite Challenges

Children from families working as construction workers or cleaners found a safe and caring environment in the school. Despite their families’ limited financial means, these children were excited and eager to learn. The school faced a serious challenge when it nearly had to close due to a lack of funds. “Even if we could have made more money elsewhere,” Satya explains, “we chose to stay because our priority was helping these children.”

His dedication to the school came from a deep commitment to supporting those who needed it most. “Our focus was never on profit,” he adds. “It was about giving these children a chance for a better future and a place to grow.”

Varthana as a Partner

When Swami Vivekanand Public Schools faced challenges in expanding their infrastructure due to rising enrollment, Varthana stepped in to provide crucial support. “Varthana truly helped us during those difficult times,” Satya says. “Thanks to their help, we were able to build new classrooms and accommodate more students.” He expresses deep gratitude for their support, adding, “We are immensely thankful to Varthana for helping us keep the school open and giving us the chance to dream about doing even more in the future.”

Dreams for the Future

Sandeep has a clear vision for Swami Vivekanand Public School. He wants students to gain more than just academic skills. “I want them to become well-rounded individuals, strong in their minds, bodies, and hearts,” he says. “With support from partners like Varthana, we are making strides toward a brighter future. This help allows us to reach more children and truly make a difference in their lives.”

Swami Vivekanand Public School’s journey showcases its deep commitment to the community. Despite facing many challenges, they have remained focused on providing a nurturing environment for underprivileged children. Their story highlights how dedication and support can overcome obstacles and create a brighter future for many.
