Hailing from the serene village of Jhumka in the Raipur district, Devnarayan encountered numerous challenges in pursuit of education. Witnessing local students grappling with long journeys for higher studies, he felt compelled to bring about change. With a clear vision, Devnarayan aimed to fill the gaps in infrastructure, resources, qualified teachers, scholarships, and financial aid opportunities.
“Education shouldn’t be a struggle; it should be a right,” asserts Devnarayan, underlining the necessity of accessible education.
From Furniture Shop to Educational Institution
Since the early 2000s, Devnarayan and his brother have successfully operated a furniture shop while concurrently managing Adarsh Public School. The school, established in 2019 with its own building, provides education from kindergarten to the 10th grade.
“Balancing a business and a school was no easy feat; it required dedication and a shared vision to broaden the school’s horizon,” reflects Devnarayan, underscoring the commitment needed to manage dual responsibilities. His journey epitomizes the art of balancing entrepreneurship and education

With a team of 20 devoted teaching staff, Adarsh Public School crafts a diverse and nurturing environment for its students. In the last academic year, the school had 350 students, and due to their constant commitment to quality education, this year saw a remarkable increase to 500 students.

Yet, with resilience and teamwork, the situation has improved. “We turned challenges into opportunities, striving to create a learning environment that adapts and thrives in any circumstance,” emphasizes Devnarayan, showcasing the school’s adaptability and determination. This year, the school has seen a remarkable 20% increase in student enrollment and improved parent engagement. Adarsh Public School tackled learning gaps through remedial classes, ensuring no child is left behind.

The school discovered a valuable partner in Varthana. According to Devnarayan, the organization came to their attention through other local schools, marking the beginning of a beneficial relationship. Varthana’s financial assistance proved crucial, accelerating the school’s growth. He says, “I found the loan process efficient, adhering to RBI guidelines and disbursing funds within 15 days.”
“Varthana’s involvement went beyond financing, contributing to innovative teaching practices, infrastructure enhancements, and the promotion of holistic education,” he expressed gratitude. He further adds, “They have been instrumental in our school’s development, offering crucial support when needed.” Adarsh Public School recognizes Varthana’s vital role in their journey and looks forward to ongoing collaboration for the betterment of education and their students’ bright future.
